Joyce B. Rodriguez is an Associate at Akrivis Law Group, PLLC. Ms. Rodriguez advises domestic and foreign companies and individuals in the areas of sanctions and export controls, white collar criminal defense and corporate investigations, and FCPA and anti-corruption. Her compliance practice includes helping companies expand or develop their international trade compliance programs and materials. She has also drafted a number of license applications and voluntary-self disclosures directed to the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) for individual and corporate clients. Ms. Rodriguez also works to defend individuals and corporations in the United States, Europe, the Middle East and East Asia undergoing enforcement and related criminal investigations and proceedings involving OFAC, the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Industry & Security (BIS), and the U.S. Department of Justice.

Previously, Ms. Rodriguez practiced in boutique commercial litigation firms and a banking litigation firm in Miami, Florida. She practiced in both state and federal courts in Florida and with local counsel throughout the United States and managed a significant case load for several national banking associations and large financial institutions. Ms. Rodriguez has significant first-hand experience in all stages of civil litigation, including motion practice, discovery, mediation and trial preparation.

Ms. Rodriguez received her J.D. from the University of Florida and her LL.M. in International Law from The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy. Her LL.M. Capstone, “Resolving Legal Claims Between the United States and Cuba: Applying International Law Where Diplomacy Alone Falls Short” was published by the South Carolina Journal of International Law and Business. She received her B.A. in International Relations and Spanish from Tufts University.

Ms. Rodriguez is a member of the International Law section of the Florida Bar Association.

Ms. Rodriguez’s application for admission to the Bar of the District of Columbia is pending and all work done by her is under strict supervision of partners of the firm admitted in the District of Columbia.
