Adel Borghei

Mr. Borghei had been invited by the U.S. Tennis Association (USTA) to referee in the U.S. Open, only to have this offer rescinded due to the limitations posed by U.S. sanctions against Iran.  He is based in Hamedan, Iran and has refereed in over 30 countries and at tournaments including Wimbeldon and the Australian Open.  Mr. Borghei’s matter was the subject of an article in today’s New York Times, which quotes Akrivis partner Farhad Alavi and mentions the firm.

Mr. Alavi is the primary attorney at Akrivis Law Group responsible for this matter and will be working with other counsel.  Mr. Alavi regularly advises multinational companies and high net worth individuals on sanctions compliance and international business matters.  He has appeared on the BBC World Business Report, BBC Persian, Financial Times, Los Angeles Times, Huffington Post, Arabian Business, and World Export Control Review (World ECR), among other international media outlets discussing the impact of U.S. sanctions.

Mr. Alavi can be contacted at falavi@akrivislaw.com or 202.686.4859.  Other inquiries may be made to our firm Administrator at 202.730.1271.
